High Quality Results Focused Training with Vanessa Pezo, LCSW

Have you ever left a training feeling like you got a lot of good information, but have no way to apply it or know what to do with it? Maybe you sat and listened to lecture all day, and found that it was information overload making it hard for you to stay awake and focused? Many trainings we attend are often led by subject matter experts, who are brilliant, but not grounded in concepts of adult learning so although they know a lot, it doesn’t always mean we get a lot out of it.

Who can benefit

Anyone. I adapt each training for the intended audience. I have trained mental health professional, paraprofessionals, police officers, non-profit and community organizations, parents, teachers, students, and more.

What you won’t get in my training

Long lectures, powerpoint slides full of words and paragraphs, copies of power point slides, a chair that you never get to move from or leave.

What you will get in my training

Experiential exercises, lively large and small group discussions, a participant guide full of need to know information, resources, tools, and space for notes and reflection. You will have opportunity to practice the tools I teach so you can apply them immediately, and you will probably get a sticker or prize because I like to give those out during class for fun.

I pride myself on creating trainings that are engaging, interactive, and focused on concrete measureable objectives. My goal in training isn’t that you will walk away with a lot of new information, but that you will have new skills that you are ready to apply immediately, and have more tools in your toolkit. I am an ATD designated Master Trainer with extensive experience facilitating dynamic, engaging, and experiential trainings for a variety of audiences including mental health workers, medical staff, first responders, police officers, students, and community agencies.

Some topics I cover:

  • Traumatic Stress 101

  • Polyvagal Theory 101

  • Understanding and Working With Complex Trauma

  • Trauma Screening and Assessment

  • Befriending the Nervous System

  • De-escalation and Crisis Intervention

  • Evidence Based Approaches for Treating Trauma

  • Emotional First Aid

  • Wellness for All

  • Cultural Humility

  • And more
